From July 19 to August 2, 2026, the city of Macaé (RJ) hosted another edition of the Vacation Colportage, promoted by the Rio de Janeiro Association (ARJ), of the Southwestern Brazilian Union. Recognized nationally for oil exploration and its coastline, the city became, during this period, a missionary field where youth dedicated their vacation to God's service.
The program brought together 15 young missionaries and seven monitors, including pastors and workers, who were housed at the Seventh-day Adventist Church – Reform Movement of Macaé. Before the start of activities, participants received training for missionary work and, daily, went out in pairs to visit homes in the city. Three missionaries also worked in the central region, expanding the reach of the colportage.
Over the two weeks, many families were reached through the distribution of Christian literature and missionary visits. The work enabled contact with new people interested in the gospel, opening doors for future visits and Bible studies. Several families began to be accompanied by the church as a direct result of the colportage.
In addition to missionary activities, the young people participated in morning and evening worship services, Sabbath School, church services, and moments of communion and recreation. The activities held by the sea contributed to strengthening bonds of friendship, integration between youth and leadership, and providing moments of rest and spiritual edification.
The program featured the presence of Pr. Joás Barbosa, colportage department of the Southwestern Brazilian Union; Pr. Gildo Andrade, president and colportage director of the Rio de Janeiro Association (ARJ); Pr. Eliseu Queiroz, evangelism department of the Association; the ARJ youth director, brother Robson Araújo, as well as other pastors and workers who collaborated with the development of the activities.
The members of the Macaé church showed joy in receiving the young missionaries and closely followed the work done. The result was considered rewarding for both participants and leadership, and the youth's expectation is already focused on the next edition of the Vacation Colportage, scheduled for January 2027.
The initiative reinforces the church's commitment to the missionary training of youth and the expansion of the gospel through Christian literature, visitation, and personal testimony. The church remains in prayer for the seeds sown during this period to produce abundant spiritual fruits.
