Every Sunday, the community of Corre Água, located approximately 100 kilometers from Macapá (AP), which belongs to the Amapaense Missionary Field (CAMAP), in the North-Northeast Union (UNNE), becomes the stage for an important missionary action developed by Sister Leila Maciel and her family. Moved by the love of Christ and the desire to serve others, they coordinate the "Feeding Needy Children" project, an initiative that seeks to meet both the spiritual and material needs of the community's children.
From the beginning, the project's purpose has been to present Jesus to the children even before offering any material aid. Each meeting is carefully prepared with biblical stories presented in a simple and engaging way, always accompanied by practical applications for daily childhood life. Then, the children participate in moments of praise, prayer, and communion, strengthening their faith and developing Christian values.
After the spiritual program, a snack is served, prepared with care, representing Christian care for the physical needs of the participants as well.
Currently, the project regularly serves about ten children and a young mother who accompanies the activities. In special programs, however, the number of participants reaches approximately twenty people, demonstrating the growing interest of the community.
As another step in the development of the children, a flute lesson was recently incorporated into the project, offering participants the opportunity to develop musical skills while being encouraged to use their talents for the glory of God.
The work done by Sister Leila Maciel and her family shows that true Christian mission goes beyond material assistance: it reaches people's hearts through the gospel, promoting hope, dignity, and transformation. Initiatives like this demonstrate that small gestures of love, when placed in God's hands, produce great results for His kingdom.
