The Ministry of the Deaf Reformists (MISUR) took another important step in strengthening the evangelization of the deaf community with the inauguration of a mini recording studio in the city of Iguatu, Ceará. The initiative, carried out on August 2, 2026, is the result of a partnership with TV Conectados com Deus and will allow for the expansion of the production of missionary materials in Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), making the gospel even more accessible.
MISUR was born with the purpose of making the biblical message accessible to deaf people through Libras. More than a church department, the ministry seeks to fulfill the mission of announcing the gospel to all people, regardless of their hearing condition.
Through the work of volunteers, Libras interpreters, and missionaries, the ministry promotes evangelization actions, Bible studies, member training, production of accessible materials, and support for local churches in the development of missionary work with deaf people. In this way, it contributes to the deaf community having access to the Scriptures, discipleship, and church communion.
Currently, MISUR has approximately 40 members distributed in different regions of Brazil. Most of the team is made up of signers, that is, members who are in the process of learning Libras and collaborate voluntarily in the mission. Of these members, 13 are professional interpreters, responsible for technically contributing to translation, interpretation, and production of accessible content.
An important advance for this work occurred when the TV Conectados com Deus team, represented by brothers Luzirlei Azevedo and Fabrício, presented MISUR with a mini recording studio. The partnership will allow the two missionary fronts to work together in the translation and production of pamphlets, magazines, Bible studies, sermons, praises, and various other evangelistic materials in Libras.
The studio was installed in Iguatu (CE), a city strategically chosen for gathering an expressive group of volunteers, interpreters, and collaborators of the ministry. Currently, around ten members work directly in MISUR in the city, forming a team prepared to develop new missionary projects and expand the production of accessible content.
The inauguration took place in a simple yet significant way, reflecting the spirit of dedication that characterizes missionary work. On the occasion, Brother Luzirlei Azevedo directed words of gratitude and encouragement, highlighting the importance of unity between ministries so that the message of Christ reaches more and more people. The moment counted on the participation of the entire MISUR team in Iguatu, who celebrated the achievement and thanked God for the opportunity to expand the reach of the mission.
The implementation of the studio represents a milestone for evangelization in Libras. With its own structure for recordings, MISUR expands its capacity to produce quality materials, strengthening missionary work among the deaf community. The partnership with TV Conectados com Deus demonstrates that the union of gifts, talents, and resources potentiates the reach of the biblical message and promotes an increasingly accessible and inclusive evangelization.
The expectation is that the new studio will consolidate itself as a center for missionary production in Libras, offering materials that support churches, evangelists, and missionaries throughout the country and contribute to an increasing number of deaf people knowing the hope presented in the Scriptures.
Beyond structural expansion, MISUR continues to strengthen its national organization. Currently, the ministry's leadership is composed of Director Raquece Mota Honório Cruz, First Vice-Director Flaviane Martins, Second Vice-Director Luis Gustavo Lima Araújo, Treasurer Tércio Santiago — who also serves as treasurer of the Southwest Union —, Secretary Katelyn Martins de Souza, and counselors Pr. Joas Barbosa and Pr. Leonardo Evangelista.
The team coordinates the ministry's actions and encourages the development of new projects focused on inclusion and evangelization of the deaf community.
