The commitment to loving one's neighbor has become a practical reality in the Novo Horizonte neighborhood, in Macapá (AP). Next to the local church, the Good Samaritan Social Assistance Center was built, a space dedicated to welcoming and developing the community through free services and educational activities.
Operating on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3 pm to 6 pm, the center offers various services, including psychological care, pharmaceutical follow-up, neuropsychological evaluation and follow-up, as well as complementary therapies, benefiting residents of the region and promoting quality of life.
In addition to health care, the project also invests in education and social inclusion through free courses. Among the activities offered is a recorder flute class for children and adolescents, taught by Sister Liane Caires, every Tuesday at 3 pm. According to her, the students show enthusiasm and dedication, participating regularly in classes and developing musical skills in a Christian learning and social environment.
Another important novelty is the start of crochet classes for girls, expanding opportunities for learning, creativity, and skill development that can contribute to personal growth and, in the future, even to supplementing family income.
With a structure composed of six rooms, the Good Samaritan Social Assistance Center represents an important missionary instrument of the church in Macapá, combining physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual care. The initiative reaffirms that the Christian mission goes beyond the temple walls, reaching the community through concrete actions of solidarity, welcome, and hope.
